SAC (Sustainable Apparel Coalition)

The SAC is an industry wide group of leading apparel and footwear brands, retailers, manufacturers, 

non-governmental organizations, academic experts, and government organizations working to reduce the
environmental and social impacts of apparel, footwear, and textile products around the world.

 

The Higg Index,

Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition,
A suite of tools that enables brands, retailers, and facilities of all sizes
- At every stage in their sustainability journey
- to accurately measure and score a company or product’s sustainability performance.

Why Higg FEM

- Measure and quantify the sustainability impacts of a facility
- Reduce redundancy in measuring and reporting sustainability performance
- Drive business value through reducing risk and uncovering efficiencies
- Create a common means and language to communicate sustainability to stakeholders

 

Higg Index FEM

- Higg FEM is a performance improvement framework that incentivizes actions that achieve impact reductions
- One facility site completes one Higg FEM per year

- Higg FEM measures performance over one calendar year (e.g. 2024 module measures 2024 performance
- Higg FEM is a self assessment ; a facility can choose to conduct verification of the assessment after posting
- Higg FEM only measures impacts that are applicable to the facility completing the assessment (e.g. low vs.
high water risk)
- Higg FEM scores will be shown as a percentage (out of all applicable questions)
- Higg FEM results will show benchmarked scores and level achievement
- Higg FEM has result report e.g., areas and focuses report to support users understand their performance
